Mocha Jenna Epic Wedding

Shawn Desman, Kardi, Roz and so much more from Jenna and Mocha’s Epic wedding.
Every wedding I have the pleasure of photographing is special and unique in its own way. However, it isn’t at every wedding that Shawn Desman sings for the couple’s first dance, then they get to wonder at the marvel of a live performance by Kardinal Offishall, and then finally, receive congratulatory messages from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Daniel Radcliffe! Needless to say, the nuptials of the wonderful Jenna and Mocha were certainly one to remember.

Held on a crisp yet beautiful early November day, the wedding was always going to be one for the ages, given the groom’s popularity on Toronto’s KISS 92.5 Roz and Mocha Morning Show. The day started innocently enough, with the bride looking exquisite in a silk and lace Lea-Ann Belter dress for the couple’s first look at Hotel Le Germain. Quite quickly, though, the wedding certainly took on an exciting celebrity feel with the groom surprising the bride by illuminating their names and wedding date in flashing lights on the giant billboard in Maple Leaf Square! The excitement continued at the ceremony and reception, which were held at the Arta Gallery and Archeo respectively, with multiple music celebrity appearances throughout the evening, including a fantastic music selection by DJ Clymaxxx.

She was pure, classic, elegance – reminiscent of a modern-day, blonde-hair, blue-eyed Audrey Hepburn. Her pale-pinks and ivory colored bouquet added a soft, whimsical touch that matched her endearing personality perfectly.

He was the soft-spoken, converse-sportin,’ ear-to-ear grinning guy - holding hands with his high school sweetheart/newly-named wife.

We were the lucky photographers hired to capture this special day for Nikki & Andrew – two beautiful individuals who came together to celebrate their love, friendship and passion for each other.

These two were so inspiring - just to be in the presence of was an experience. The look of pure happiness on both of their faces proved the love between the two was not just that of newlyweds. They were soul-mates. They were friends. They were partners. And it was beyond an honor.

The ceremony was held at a 100 year old family church in the beautiful, quaint village of Elora and then we spent some time photographing at Nikki’s grandmother’s place – a family tradition. The reception was held at the Elora Mill Inn, a beautiful Spa & Resort nestled along the Grand River and near the Elora Gorge.

Guests enjoyed a 50’s themed cocktail evening and regaled at an amazing fireworks display put on by some family friends. The couple, along with their family and friends, all danced the night away to the sounds of the Indigo Riff Jazz band and created one unforgettable evening.

Congratulations Nikki & Andy – we feel blessed to have been a part of your beautiful day. If only every day were as wonderfully memorable!

A person’s high school sweetheart is usually just a little blip on their life’s timeline. It’s someone who comes into your life to teach you how to love, but who also takes leave so that you can use those lessons in your future when you find the true love of your life. There are a few great loves, however, who begin as high school sweethearts and never falter – such as Maddison and Evan!

Maddison and Evan were meant to be from the start. Not only is Maddison’s father, Doug Gilmour, the famous hockey legend, but Evan followed suit and become a successful hockey player who was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings. The sport runs through their veins and is a legacy that binds their families together in a very special way.

The wedding ceremony took place in the courtyard of the magnificent Liberty Grand. It was a beautiful and intimate gathering, filled with close family and friends who love and support the wonderful couple. After the “I do’s”, the party moved inside to Liberty Grand’s Renaissance Room which overlooked the glittering Lake Ontario.

The bride couldn’t have looked any more stunning in her strapless Kenneth Pool gown with its intricate beaded accents and her lovely embellished heels, and her handsome groom couldn’t have looked at her any more lovingly as she stood by his side. The champagne undertones that they chose for the flower girls’ headbands, bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen’s vests complimented the bride’s creamy bouquet and the groom’s boutonniere beautifully.

The reception kicked off with commemorative first dances and a touching speech from the father of the bride. The newlyweds sat at the head table with its rouched table décor, compliments of FOS, and basked in the warm sunlight as the sun began to set behind them. The guests’ tables were adorned with golden candelabra centerpieces filled with fresh pink and cream flowers, and they were privy to some very special wedding favors.

Being hockey fans ourselves, shooting this wedding was more of a treat than work! Speaking of treats, there was (of course!) a heavy hockey theme throughout the wedding which included personalized hockey chocolate bars and gold painted hockey pucks for the guests. The bride and groom added an extra personal touch by hand-making custom wrappers for the chocolates on their tables.

As the evening waned, Maddison changed out of her wedding gown and into her light and glittery prom dress from high school. It was a heartfelt tribute to the roots of their relationship. Not only have Maddison and Evan grown up together in age, but they somehow managed to do what so many other couples fail to do: they grew together as people
