He said… it was love. She agreed!

Some people said Nina and Paul were destined to be married one day – and when I say “some people,” I mean Paul. They had been dating for almost 8 years when we met up with this lovely couple last year for their engagement shoot. The first thing Paul told us was that since he was 17 years old he’d known she was the one.

Nina and Paul met during high school and continued together at Queens University. In addition to their growing love for each other, they also both developed a great appreciation for the opera. So it was only fitting that Paul decided to propose during an intermission of what has become their most beloved opera – Fidelio.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to photograph Paul & Nina’s wedding and from the luminous glow that seemed to connect from her eyes to his smile – this moment was everything they’d been dreaming it would be.

Nina wore a beautiful Monique L’huillier designer gown with so much intricate detail, we had to photograph it from multiple angles to do it justice. She paired the gown with some Oscar de La Renta peep toe heels and Swarovski jeweled accents. Nina’s maid of honor wore a purple Badgley Mischka gown which matched the groomsmen’s color coordinated socks perfectly. The rest of Nina’s best girl’s donned their own choice of gowns which made for some very fun and fresh bridal party images.

The reception was held inside the luxurious Vanity Fair Ballroom at the King Edward hotel, located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s financial district. The room was exquisitely decorated with flowers by Betty Shin (Avenue Flower) and lighting by one of the top wedding coordinators, Donna Jordan. Guests of the newlyweds – including several relatives who traveled from as far as Sweden and Norway – danced the night away to the rousing songs of Sensation. The band was a huge hit – the only problem was trying to convince the guests to leave the dance floor and return to their meals before they were taken away!

Nina & Paul – we are so honored to have shared in your special day. Thank you so much for including us and again, Congratulations!

An Unfathomable Feast

If love was a fine-dining experience, Suelyn and Theo would have an ‘A’ rating, a five star review, a Martha Stewart and Julia Child stamp of approval and tonight’s special would satisfy and delight every diner’s appetite. A couple months ago when we met up with Suelyn and Theo to discuss the plans for their big day, we knew we were in for a treat – but in reality, we had no idea.  This wedding was definitely one for the books.

Theo is very soft-spoken, patient and subdued.  Suelyn is… well, as she so eloquently put it in her vows “I rush and you stroll. I’m savory, you’re sweet. I worry and you nap. You are quiet and I am… not.“ They are the very definition of opposites attracting – of yin meeting her yang. They make each other’s lives interesting and they certainly planned a spectacular wedding ceremony and reception for family and friends from all over the world to enjoy.

The wedding – which was a mixture of both Greek and Chinese ceremonies – was held at the Atlantis Pavilions along Toronto’s gorgeous landmark waterfront. The phenomenal floor to ceiling windows and vibrant orange floral displays by Val Lee Designs, lit up the ballroom almost as much as the smiles on this amazing couple.

Amongst the sushi spread, the potato martini bar, a 10-course Chinese buffet, and a midnight serving of hamburgers and fries, Suelyn made time to change into five individually beautiful gowns. During the ceremony, she donned a stunning strapless, white silk taffeta gown with a ruffled skirt by Lian Carlo. For the rest of the banquet, she changed into a traditional tea ceremony dress plus three Cheungsum Chinese silk dresses – each a different color from red to pink and finally a black gown with gold trimming.

We had a wonderful time with Suelyn and Theo and must thank their friends and ours -  Kristi and Matt, who we photographed back in 2005 – for connecting us for this very special occasion. Congratulations to the two of you and thank you for letting us share in your day!

Christine - These photos are absolutely outstanding! You were a gorgeous bride and we were so happy to share this day with you. Thanks for the great time and the amazing FOOD!

love,
Jeff & Christine

A – Big – Beautiful – Greek – Wedding

One of the most incredible experiences for a wedding photographer is spotting a familiar face among the friends and family during a wedding ceremony or reception.  But that’s exactly what happened this past weekend when we arrived at the wedding of Niki and Minas.

For a moment it felt like we had arrived at our big, beautiful, Greek family reunion. In actuality, the familiar faces were previous clients of ours who had hired us to photograph their weddings, including friends of the bride and groom - Jackie & Zak, Sameera & Matthew and Mirabelle & Shaunik . Needless to say, this was a very special wedding for us and Niki and Minas were an absolute delight to photograph. They were two of the warmest and most considerate couples we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

Niki was simply stunning in a strapless, ivory-hued mermaid style gown lined with silk flowers by Melissa Sweet.  Her Jimmy Choo sparkly peep-toe pumps and crystal jewelry added just a touch of flare which complimented her soft, easy-going demeanor unbelievably.  Niki and her bridesmaids all carried gorgeous Anthi Florist designed bouquets, filled with cream colored roses and black trimmings to match the bridesmaids black gowns.

The reception was held at Palais Royale, a gorgeous waterfront venue on the shores of Lake Ontario. It was a wonderful choice of venue for this group as it is one of Toronto’s most famous dance halls – and boy did this group dance!   Family and friends of Niki and Minas enveloped the couple with hugs and laughter, well wishes and lots and lots of dancing. But what else would you expect at a big Greek wedding, especially with the Galaxy Orchestra playing – a very popular Greek band.

Niki and Minas – we wish you all the luck and love, happiness & health, success & good fortune over the years to come – and the same goes for the Red Sox, the Bruins and the Celtics. wink-wink.

Congratulations and thanks for letting us be a part of your day!
