Let I preface this post by saying that we have the greatest job in the world and the greatest clients in the world! There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t count ourselves among the luckiest people in the world. Having said that – sometimes – something even more profound hits us.
It could be any day, really. We pack up our gear and get into the car. We head out to whichever location our couple has selected for the day’s event. We find our couple, start talking and BAM! Almost instantly it hits us! We WANT to be friends with this couple! I don’t mean sending-holiday-cards-and-an-occasional-catch-up-email kind of friends. I mean these two are so much fun; I don’t want to experience anything without their smiling, happy faces cracking a joke about it next to us. And that’s just what happened when we got together with Josh and Meredith for their engagement shoot.

Josh and Meredith are two of the happiest people we’ve ever had the good fortune of meeting, and we really think it’s because they found each other. You can see it in the pictures from the day – their smiles and their joy just emanate from the images. We think of Meredith as the sunshine, with her golden locks and her radiant smile. Along with the gorgeous yellow roses and peep toe yellow heels – she was just a burst of bright light. And Josh knew just what to do and what to say to turn that bright smile into a burst of laughter. One of the many highlights from the day – Josh demonstrating his phenomenal singer/songwriter skills as he played the guitar and made up silly lyrics about their upcoming nuptials. Honestly, our cheeks were in pain from laughing so hard.

The day was filled with the wild (nature’s wild) and the crazy. From the swarm of ants that attacked us to the hidden man sleeping inside the boat. We had spotted this row boat abandoned (or so I thought) along the shore. We asked Josh and Meredith to lean against it for a few shots. Josh spotted the man asleep inside the boat first, but kept his cool. He kept whispering into Meredith’s ear trying to get her to turn around. She just laughed off his silly joke until suddenly the man sat up and she realized Josh wasn’t kidding. It made for some great images.
I had so much fun with Meredith and Josh; photographing their engagement pictures, watching as hit songs were created before our very eyes and waking up sleeping men. But I think our favorite images are of those with the old corvette Meredith’s father had been fixing up. He had plans to let Josh and Meredith use it on their wedding day, but fortunately we were able to include it in their engagement shoot. And boy did we use it! Passersby whistled their praise as we photographed the two soon-to-be’s in the car, next to the car, on top of the car – any which way we tried, it worked! I remember at the time wondering if the people passing by were enthralled with the car or with Josh and Meredith. But after looking through the images from the day, I am now certain it was for this fabulously fun couple.
